Jay, You might think about adding User Photos to the user's profiles. This would give users that can see or users that can see a little bit the ablity to see who they are talking to. As for users that are black out blind, Well, this would make it easy for a sighted person to tell the user what someone looks like. I am happy to help code the site for such an action.

I like it too, and it's a good idea. I can't remember why, if there is a reason, why J never implamented the idea. It's a really great one.
The reason why it will probably never be implemented is because it would not make the site equal for everyone since not all of us can see, myself included.
It's also been argued that there's plenty of sites where you can display your photo such as livejournal, myspace, etc.
Personallyh I would rather see the bandwith increased so that stereo audio profiles can be at a higher bitrate, but that's just me.

I would except it's been talked about and those topics as well as the photo ones are berried now.
If you want people to see your picture go to www.putfile.com, create an account which does not require to enter characters by the way, upload a picture and give the link in your profile.
And i am sure there are mor websites like putfile. and it's free.
Clearley half of you have missed the point of the idea, it was so that we wouldn't have to go away from the site for this. We should be able to see a photo as we read the profile.

i agree with the photo in the user profile and why sign up for another site when we're on this one just to get your picture up there? mine's on my msn for any of you that have me.
I'm totally blind, but I agree with Corey! It should be opptional. I usually can tell what people are like by their voice!
Jay has always tried to find ways to draw other users outside our own community to this site. This would help a lot. This was not put here especially for blind users, remember that.

never assume anything and why not just discribe yourself and be done with it a vary good discription like I have brown eyes and blackish hair and am usually in a collared shirt and shorts.
nothing wrong with the photo thing. i actually think it's a good idea. right lately there was someone who didn't want to come back here because she thought this was just a site for the blind, well, photos shows it isn't. and yes i have met a few sighted people too, fully sighted. and there are probably many others but they just didn't have the occasion to say it.
and i agree with narcissa, why sign up to another site juts to upload a picture? then i think there are websites where you can put an audio file, so why doing one on here? and why fill up the space in our profiles if we can always have a blog and say whatever we want up there? mind you this is not a suggestion, i'm just being sarcastic. lol. but you get the idea
I'm all in favour of photos in profiles. There are plenty of VI people with residual vision who could see these, as well as sighted people. And, anything that encourages sighted people to join has got to be a good thing!
no issue with putting photos up on profiles, although personally I won't be putting mine up there, lol. The problem though with pictures is that the files are quite big and this will use up a lot of bandwidth.

well i think that depends on the type of file. i think for example if you upload a jpg file it's not necessarily that big. premium feature... don't know really, i personally think it would be nice to allow it to everyone

Well, I disagree with the photo thing. For one, Why do it? Most of us are blind aren't we? An audio profile is good enough. For another, There are over 6000 users. If many of them put up photos, it would be a waiste of disk space and bandwidth. Most of all, photos would attract sexual predators if such people are on this site. They could track you down. For safety sake, do not allow viewing of photos. That's my 2 cents.
